Slow growing, long-lived medium-sized evergreen tree with low flammability. Takes 35-50 years to reach maturity. Suitable shade and habitat tree for home gardens. Rated no 1 tree for Canberra for hotter drier future by ANU. Easy to grow from seed housed in pods.
Protect from white cockatoos during establishment. Included in a plantation in Forest 79 in the National Arboretum. Dislikes wet feet.
The Kurrajong is the signature tree of Canberra's Microforests and is planted at Downer, Watson and Holt sites. Has become a weed in South Australia.
Ngunnawal people used for food, fibre and water. String and rope made from tree bark.
